The Severn Sound Environmental Association (SSEA) will be hosting an open house next month in Elmvale to discuss a wide variety of environmental topics.

It is scheduled for Friday, April 5 from noon until 4 p.m. at the Elmvale Community Hall, located at 33 Queen St. W.

Organizers say this is an "excellent opportunity" for people to hear from experts and view work relating to climate change, water-quality monitoring, invasive species, source-water protection, natural heritage, tree planting, algae blooms and other issues within the Severn Sound watershed.

The watershed includes the townships of Tiny, Springwater, Tay, Severn, Oro-Medonte and Georgian Bay, as well as the towns of Midland and Penetanguishene.

A special guest speaker will be presenting at 1 p.m.
